Rhinobuild and Bon Tool welcomed Ally Porthouse, better known as Al The Trowel, as a brand ambassador. The announcement brought together a familiar voice in bricklaying and two names supplying tools to the trade.
From site experience to the next generation. Ally’s content mixes practical bricklaying advice with the humour and everyday conversations of working on site.
Meet Al The Trowel
Based in Bexhill, East Sussex, Ally was introduced in our original announcement with more than 40 years of bricklaying experience. His straight-talking style and familiar phrases, including “Alright Lads” and “Pug Up”, have helped make his videos recognisable to tradespeople and apprentices.
Why apprentices follow his content
Practical technique
Watch how experienced bricklayers approach everyday tasks and explain their working methods.
Tool conversations
Use demonstrations as a starting point for comparing tools and asking questions.
Life on site
The humour and personalities make the trade approachable for people getting started.
Online videos can help you understand a technique, but your college tutor, supervisor and project specification remain the references for the work you are carrying out.
